Meghan Markle allegedly wanted to skip Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebration that's why her husband, Prince Harry, issued a statement about the security issues in the U.K. There are speculations that Prince Harry brought up the subject to make an excuse why his wife or they couldn't be home this year.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Not Returning To The UK For Queen's Platinum Jubilee?
The Duke of Sussex recently released a statement citing security threats as to why he couldn't bring his family home to the U.K. According to Prince Harry, he offered to pay for police protection to ensure his family's safety because he wanted to bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children son Archie and daughter Lili to Britain.
However, his suggestion was turned down because he is not entitled to police protection because he is no longer a working royal. Even if Prince Harry can afford to pay, Met police do not cater to private citizens and are not for hire.
The lack of protection appeared to be the reason Prince Harry couldn't bring his family home and meet the royal family. However, there are speculations that he only issued the statement as an excuse why his wife couldn't return to the U.K. for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration.
"I've been saying for a year that Meghan Markle will never return to the UK. This is the perfect excuse," a senior royal journalist commented per Geo.TV.
"It certainly gets Meghan out of coming over for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations," royal biographer and commentator Angela Levin added. She also said that it would be "Interesting to see if Harry is brave enough to come on his own."
Meghan Markle Might Not Return To The U.K.
Prince Harry has already returned to his home country twice sans his wife. First, he returned in April for his grandfather Prince Philip's funeral. He flew back to his home country in June for the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue.
Markle wasn't present on both occasions for a reason. She was still pregnant in April and was advised against traveling. The royal couple listened to their doctor, especially because she had a miscarriage in July 2021.
The Duchess of Sussex missed the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue because she just gave birth to baby Lili at the time. Prince Harry didn't even stay long in the U.K. to reunite with his wife, son and newborn.
However, there are speculations that Markle doesn't want to return to the U.K. The former Suits star is not popular in the country.

"I’m not sure Meghan will ever come to Britain again," Jobson told Us Weekly Tuesday. "She’s not popular [right] now."
At the time, Jobson weighed in on the chances of Markle coming back to Britain for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. For him, it would still be unlikely for the duchess to return.
"We have to wait and see. … Harry, I’m sure he thinks he’ll be there for the [Platinum Jubilee]," he added.
The expert added that the Platinum Jubilee should focus on the Queen and not on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because the event is a celebration of the monarch's seven decades of service and duty.
