Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were delighted to join Queen Elizabeth at her Platinum Jubilee celebration. However, they were allegedly treated differently, according to a royal biographer.
Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Were Sidelined During The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration
Royal biographer Christopher Andersen appeared on Us Weekly's Royally Us podcast. According to him, the members of the royal family were "callous" toward the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
He also believed that Prince Harry and Markle were put in the sidelined. It was noticeable how minimal their appearance was during the four-day celebration.
"The whole world was watching and waiting to see if fences would be mended, if the Sussexes got back together with the rest of the family. From that standpoint, it was an unmitigated disaster," Andersen said, Express reported.
"It's hard to see how the Royal Family could've been any more callous towards the Sussexes. They were meticulously choreographed in every instant to be sidelined and marginalised. If Harry went to London's Jubilee celebrations hoping to mend fences, that didn't happen."
Meghan Markle And Prince Harry More Determined To Keep Their Distance From The Royal Family?
During the interview, podcast co-host Christina Garibaldi asked the Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan author if Prince Harry had any regrets about his decision to step back from his royal duties based on what happened at the Platinum Jubilee.
In Andersen's opinion, the incident may have probably fueled his desire to live a life away from them.
"No, I would say that [Harry] is digging in," Andersen claimed. "I think, if anything, this kind of treatment at their hands just makes them more determined to live a separate life."
He added that the Duke of Sussex probably wanted things to "go more smoothly" and that his family would react "in a less belligerent way" about his and Markle's exit. However, it seemed that things were still not okay between them.
The author added that there is always drama in the royal family, but "nobody wants to see a family in turmoil. "
"They never disappoint when it comes to drama," Andersen said of the royal family.
