Prince Harry Couldn’t Bring Archie And Lilibet In Britain Sans Police Protection?
Meanwhile, a legal representative for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle issued a statement Sunday after Mail on Sunday reported that the Duke of Sussex had sought a judicial review of a Home Office decision not to allow him to pay for police protection when in Britain.
The statement says the brother of Prince William “inherited a security risk at birth, for live” that his private security team “cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the U.K.”
The statement, as per Town And Country, read:
Most, if not all, royal fans are aware that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received taxpayer-funded police protection when they were still working royals. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex lost it when they decided to step back from their senior royal duties in March 2020.
A legal representative for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed that the duke had offered to pay for the police protection when they were in Britain moving forward. However, his attempts to negotiate it were reportedly rejected.
The announcement reportedly dampened the possibility of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie and Lilibet returning to the United Kingdom for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth this summer.
While it remains to be seen as to who would attend the milestone revelries, it was hoped that the Sussex family would be reunited with the other members of the royal family this time.
