Meghan Markle previously claimed that she did not receive much support and guidance from the royal family when she first married into The Firm. She also claimed that some of her requests were not acknowledged by certain members of the royal family.
But a new book written by journalist Gyles Brandreth details how Queen Elizabeth stepped in to help Meghan Markle when she first joined the British clan. According to the author, the late monarch knew that adjusting to royal life could be challenging, so she wanted the Duchess of Sussex to be mentored by Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Meghan Markle Refused Sophie Wessex's Help?
However, Brandreth alleged that Markle refused Sophie's help because she had Prince Harry.
"The Queen [who, of course, had seen it all before] understood that Harry's girl might find adjusting to Royal life challenging to begin with [as she put it]. 'It is very jolty, but you soon get used to it – that was Her Majesty's experience going back many years. To help Meghan, the Queen suggested that her daughter-in-law, Sophie Wessex, would be an ideal mentor. 'Sophie can help show you the ropes,' said the Queen. Meghan made it clear that she did not feel she needed Sophie's help. She had Harry," Brandreth wrote (via Mirror UK).

Queen Consort Camilla Tried To Help Meghan Markle, But She Refused?
Other than Sophie, there were also recent reports claiming that Queen Consort Camilla also offered Markle a helping hand when she first joined the royal family. But the Duchess of Sussex also refused to team up with her.
In the book Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: A Royal Survivor, royal author Angela Levin claimed that King Charles' wife tried to give Markle advice on how to handle the pressure of being in the public eye, as well as the possible scrutiny that she would face as a member of the royal family.
"She doesn't want to see anyone struggling and she is fond of Meghan," an insider told Levin (via Daily Mail).
Meghan Markle Plotted Her Megxit All Along?
The author also revealed that Markle seemed bored and preferred to go on her way in carving out a role for herself within The Firm.
In the book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, author Valentine Low claimed that Markle always wanted to be rejected by the royal family. And very early on, she already plotted her so-called Megxit.
"The mistake they made was thinking that she wanted to be happy. She wanted to be rejected because she was obsessed with that narrative from day one," he wrote (via Marca).
