Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined Prince William and Kate Middleton for the first time in their public walkabout outside Windsor Castle Saturday. However, the foursome's reunion was reportedly delayed due to the duchess' request.
Meghan Markle Reportedly Delayed Walkabout With Her Hair And Makeup Request
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Prince and Princess of Wales were photographed for the first time after two years when they greeted the royal fans who gathered to mourn for Queen Elizabeth's passing together. According to News.com.au, the group was expected to arrive at 4:30 p.m. but were late and showed up at 5:15 p.m.
Royal expert Daisy McAndrew spoke on NBC's Today show Wednesday. According to her, it was actually Markle who stalled the group.
Markle reportedly requested that she needed to have her "hair and makeup" done before she stepped out on the Long Walk at Windsor to view the floral tribute and meet the crowd.
McAndrew added that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex needed time to change into formal mourning attire, suggesting that Prince William's invited them at the last minute.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were expected to arrive at 4:30 p.m. Despite the tardiness, royal fans were happy when they arrived with Prince Harry and Markle at 5:15 p.m. local time.
The foursome stayed with the royals fans for 40 minutes. The outlet noted that despite the united front, the tension was thick in the air. Some fans felt that Middleton barely acknowledged her sister-in-law during the reunion.
The outlet noted that the new Princess of Wales stared "icily" at Markle before they waved to the crowd and separated.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's Rumored Tension
There are speculations that Middleton was probably furious with what Markle said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey last year. Prince Harry's wife denied making Middleton cry in the run-up of their wedding.
The Duchess of Sussex claimed that "the reverse happened", and it was actually Middleton who made her cry. She added that everyone in the palace knew the truth, but no one stood up to defend her.
Many felt bad for the future queen consort at the time because she stands by the royal family's protocol and doesn't address any reports.

An unnamed palace source told The Sunday Times, when the outlet commemorated Middleton's 40th birthday that Prince William's wife never spoke about the issue, only Markle did, and her version was reportedly very different from what she shared in Winfrey's interview.
"I've had hundreds of hours of conversations with her [Kate] and it never came up," the source said royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah. "I only ever heard from Meghan about that — a very different story from what she said to Oprah."
