Maggie Baugh’s name is making headlines in the entertainment world today after Keith Urban surprised fans by referencing her in his song “Fighter” during a concert, instead of his wife Nicole Kidman following their split.
“Fighter” is well known as a track inspired by Urban and Kidman’s early days together, but during the performance, Urban changed the lyric. Instead of the original, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter,” he sang: “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”
As the change quickly went viral, know more about Baugh and her connection to Urban.
Who is Maggie Baugh?
An up-and-coming country star, Baugh has been steadily catching the attention of the music industry with her independent success.
Music has been a part of her life since childhood. She began playing classical music at just six years old, but it wasn’t until she was 13 that she started songwriting after moving from Florida to Nashville.
“I put out my very first record when I was 13 years old. I’m actually from south Florida and it’s a festival season all year round in south Florida, so I toured a lot there,” she told the Hamilton County Reporter. “I started touring at the bigger venues and all the way up and down the state and up into Virginia. Then when I was 18 years old, I moved to Nashville and started touring a bunch.”
Beyond her career as a recording artist, Baugh has also become a social media powerhouse. She went viral in 2022 with her TikTok series “Finish the Lick,” where she attempted to complete a song on guitar after being given just a portion of it.
One of her most popular clips, where she effortlessly played Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” while sitting on a park bench, earned over 6 million views alone.
Altogether, she has amassed more than 40 million views across her platforms, showcasing her talent with multiple instruments.
What is Maggie Baugh’s Relationship with Keith Urban?

With her growing success, Baugh has also caught the attention of Urban, who invited her to join him on tour as his “utility player”—the same role he referenced in his tweaked song lyric.
Naturally, as one of country music’s rising stars, Baugh accepted. The two are now on the road together this summer for Urban’s High and Alive World Tour, with more shows lined up through mid-October.
But Urban isn’t the only major artist Baugh has shared the stage with. She has already performed alongside Kane Brown and Luke Combs, and even jammed with Luke Bryan and Trace Adkins in the music video for Adkins’ “Where the Country Girls At.”
“Being a multi-instrumentalist has really opened a lot of doors for me,” she told People in 2021. “If I wasn’t a musician at heart, I probably wouldn’t have been able to get that opportunity.”
Her résumé is already impressive, appearing on the CMT Awards, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Today, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and performing at iconic venues like the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
Baugh has also released her debut album, Dear Me, which can be streamed on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. She’s currently headlining her self-titled tour and looking forward to releasing her second album.
