Maze Runner's Dylan O'Brien to Voice Bumblebee

Though Bumblebee usually talks in the Transformers animated series, the live-action films have opted to have him be mute and translate only through the radio. As it turns out, the Bumblebee spinoff will actually have Bee talking again, and we now know who will be providing the voice.

As per IGN, Dylan O'Brien (Maze Runner franchise, Teen Wolf) will be voicing everyone's favorite Autobot. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura had this to say about casting a voice for Bee:

"Since we were approaching this as an origin story, we felt that it was appropriate that you got to hear his voice. That's the simple logic that we employed. The longer-term implication of that is different. But the short-term implication of that is since we really are resetting the mythology, essentially, of who Bumblebee is. And so, that seemed to us to be the appropriate, to get the chance to hear what he sounds like."

With Bee mostly being silent in the trailers, my guess is that he'll only be talking at the beginning of the movie during the sequence in Cybertron. He'll then crash land on Earth, have a little bought with Blitzwing, and it will leave him without a voice.

Though he's famously mute in the movies, Bumblebee actually talks a bit for a few moments. He talks at the end of the first Transformers movie, and he also talks to Optimus Prime in The Last Knight.

I'm all up for Bee talking in this movie, but I feel like there's also a certain appeal when he isn't able to talk. Heck, the Iron Giant barely said anything in his film, and he's one of the most beloved movie robots of all time.

Catch Bumblebee in theaters Dec. 21.
