When Free Comic Book Day was canceled due to the Coronavirus epidemic, many wondered if Marvel Comics would even continue to release their FCBD issues due to how everything has been affected by this. It's still a shame that COVID-19 is forcing most people to stay at home but we finally know when we're going to see the Marvel FCBD comics for 2020; next month!
According to Marvel.com, we'll be able to see Free Comic Book Day 2020: X-Men #1 and Free Comic Book Day 2020: Spider-Man/Venom #1 on July 22. Here's a rundown on both issues.
FCBD 2020: X-Men #1 will give us a taste of the upcoming X of Swords storyline from current X-Men scribe Jonathan Hickman and amazing artist Pepe Larraz, while Tom Taylor and Iban Coello are also planning a second tale for the issue. Meanwhile, FCBD 2020: Spider-Man/Venom #1 will act as entry points for some big storylines that are coming to Amazing Spider-Man, Venom, and Black Cat from creators Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, Jed MacKay, Patrick Gleason and more.
It's good to know that comic book fans can go to their favorite store and pick up a free issue, while hopefully picking up some graphic novels and newly-released single-issues while there. That's usually the point of Free Comic Book Day and it would be pretty awesome for fans to get single issues from the same creative teams that gave them a free piece of entertainment.
While COVID-19 is still a pain in the butt, fans can at least take solace in the fact that they can get the Marvel FCBD 2020 comics next month, on July 22.
