Spoiler culture has become huge over the last couple of years, thanks especially to the success of massive entertainment properties like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, some "scoopers" have gone to extensive lengths and revealed top-secret information about upcoming MCU releases which has taken away the element of surprise, and obviously, the studios aren't thrilled.

The widespread of confidential information on social media has prompted Marvel Studios to take action and it looks like they're adamant about exposing who's behind the said leaks.

Just recently, social media scooper @CanWeGetToast revealed an unreleased image of Sam Wilson's new Captain America suit much to the chagrin of Marvel.

The scooper in question has had a good track record when it comes to spoilers and insider information but operates anonymously on both X and Instagram.

According to a new report, Marvel issued a DMCA subpoena with Meta (Instagram's parent company) in late April to expose the said scooper through its intellectual property holding firm, MVL Film Finance, via Matthew Slatoff, Vice President, Global Security & Content Protection at Marvel Studios.

The first document filed in California courts read: "MVL has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the proposed subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of the alleged infringer."

The second document adds: "…to identify an alleged infringer (or infringers) using the handle @canwegetsometoast, who published a copyrighted image from an upcoming Marvel Studios motion picture Captain America: Brave New World, without authorization."

As of writing, the scooper remains unfazed by the threat Marvel posed and has continued sharing leaks on their social media pages. In fact, they have yet to comment on the subpoena. However, it won't be surprising if one of these days, the account disappears or gets taken down.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to release in theaters on February 14, 2025.
