Disney is working on a new streaming site with a smorgasbord of new content and according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the Mickey Mouse House's Disney + is going to be a big part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's future.
Feige just recently spoke with Variety in the news outlet's Playback with Kris Tapley podcast, and during the interview, the Marvel Studios executive was asked whether or not Disney+ would have anything do with the future of the Marvel franchise. Apparently, Marvel does have plans involving Disney's upcoming streaming site, and big ones at that.
"Disney+ is, yes," Feige revealed in his discussion with Tapley. "Which is another exciting avenue and another exciting thing about being at this place at this time and goes back to the amount of characters we have and the amount of stories we could tell."
Marvel has been limited to at most three films a year because of Disney's slate, but with Disney+ on the way, the studio now has another outlet for more original content. Marvel already announced a couple of mini-series featuring Marvel characters without their own standalone films. One for Tom Hiddleston's Loki, one for both Paul Bettany's Vision and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlett Witch, and then one for both Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel's Groot.
"When we announced ten movies and people asked "Well what about these other things?' the previous stance would be 'We only have a certain number of slots to make movies per year,'" the Marvel producer explained. "That's still true but we have another outlet that I think will be very unique and very special."
Some might worry about Marvel movie exhaustion, but what's so wrong about having more Marvel movies with Disney+ on the way, huh?
Marvel's next film, Avengers: Endgame is set to premiere April 26, 2019.
