The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to be a dominant force in the world of entertainment and with the franchise ever-expanding, we're set to be introduced to the next crop of superheroes who will defend the universe in future phases. Currently, the MCU's slate for Phases 5 and 6 is already set in stone but Marvel Studios is still actively developing a number of films and shows that will keep fans glued to the franchise for the next decade.

One show fans should be on the lookout for is the upcoming Wonder Man series helmed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. Details about the Disney+ series have remained scarce but it looks like Kevin Feige and his casting crew have already found the project's titular hero. According to a scoop from ScreenGeek, Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen is currently in talks to play Simon Williams in the series.

While the specifics of the Black Manta actor's casting weren't disclosed, the outlet notes aside from Abdul-Mateen, two other actors are also being scouted for the series — a female lead and Williams’ manager. In case you weren't aware, Simon is a failed actor in the comics before becoming an Avenger.

This potential casting comes as a huge surprise because as most of you may know, Simon Williams is traditionally a caucasian in the comics. But this isn't the first time Marvel Studios has racially bent a character and by today's standards, it shouldn't really be a shocker. Personally, I think Yahya is better suited for a different role but if the studio sees something in him, we just have to trust their judgment.

That said, details about Marvel Studios' Wonder Man project are still under wraps.
