It's been a while since Disney announced that it was letting go of the Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn because of insensitive and inappropriate tweets that were made more than a decade ago. However, Guardians of the Galaxy star Michael Rooker still thinks the entire affair was a "terrible" turn of events.

Speaking with fans at the Walker Stalker convention in Atlanta (via ComicBook.com), Rooker decided to open up and talk about the unfortunate firing of Gunn. Not only does the actor admit that Disney's decision to separate with Gunn was a pretty bad idea, but he also reminds everyone how valued the filmmaker is in the industry, pointing at the director's new work at DC.

"It's terrible, isn't it? Yeah, but oh well, guess what? He's on a gig already. Suicide Squad, that's right. He's writing it and directing it as well," Rooker said.

This is definitely interesting information. Warner Brothers may have already confirmed Gunn as the scribe for Suicide Squad 2, however, the studio has yet to announce whether the filmmaker would be helming the project as well. Knowing how close Rooker is to Gunn, this might serve as a sign. However, it's also likely that Marvel's Yondu may also be speaking in general terms regarding Gunn's ties to the DCEU.

Another point of interest is the possibility of seeing Rooker make his way over to Suicide Squad 2. Gunn has the habit of casting his close friends in the different projects that he's been working on and with Yondu being dead and all, Rooker has so much room to move on to the next superhero project he finds. Let's just wait and see what happens after this.

Suicide Squad 2 doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
