A new rumor suggested that Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña has been cast for a major role in the MCU series Nova.
For the past few years, Marvel Studios has been developing a Disney+ series that will focus on the Nova Corps in the MCU. It is unknown yet which phase it is slated to be part of.
Fans have been looking forward to hearing which actors Marvel might cast to play the members of the Nova Corps that the series will focus on. As it turns out, they might bring someone from the DC universe to play one of the leads.
Xolo Maridueña Reportedly Cast in Marvel's Nova Series
According to the project's Production List page, Maridueña has been cast for a major role in Nova. There are no details regarding the role that he will play.
The other actors who are also allegedly part of the series are Tanner Gillman and Guardians of the Galaxy stars John C. Reilly and Glenn Close, who are likely reprising their roles.
So far, Marvel Studios has not confirmed the details in the listing so take this with a grain of salt for now.
If Maridueña's casting in the MCU series ends up being true, it sounds like he will be juggling his involvement in two major superhero franchises at the same time for the next few years.
While there are no plans for a Blue Beetle sequel, James Gunn has confirmed that Maridueña's Jaime Reyes will be integrated into the DCU and an animated series is in the works.
With his major roles in Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle, Maridueña has proven that he is a talented actor who has the chops of playing various types of characters and it would be cool to see him play a Nova Corps member.
For now, fans should wait for any official confirmation from Marvel if his casting is true and hopefully we'll get some updates sooner rather than later.
