If you're still waiting for the first issue of Shadow of Vader, you probably shouldn't hold your breath. Marvel Comics has officially cancelled the comic book series after Star Wars scribe Chuck Wendig was fired last October.

In October, Wendig was announced to work on the five-issue series focusing on stories about the Sith Lord. However, the Hyperion writer was promptly fired just a week after the announcement due to his "negativity and vulgarity" on social media. Nevertheless, fans were still hoping that Shadow of Vader will be getting a new writer and move forward. Unfortunately, sources from Marvel have confirmed with Polygon that the comic book series has been cancelled.

Wendig had an interesting reaction to the cancellation.

The author had reportedly already completed work on three of the Shadow of Vader issues. Nevertheless, Wendig remains optimistic about his future. "Onward, I suppose, to bigger and better things!" he said.

Marvel has yet to release an official statement regarding Wendig's firing from the comic book series.
