Two years had gone by since the finale of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and the fans of the show are still looking forward for the characters to, in some ways, return again in the MCU. After the rumors on Quake coming back, for Fitz, though, Iain De Caestecker reveals why he would not reprise the role if tapped again.
The arc of Fitz throughout Marvel's Agents of SHIELD has been full of ups and downs and more often than not, it involves his better half in the show, Elizabeth Henstridge's Jemma Simmons. From the computer and tech guy of the team, he became a major player especially in the finale.
Recently, speculations are going around Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Quake, coming back in the MCU with Chloe Bennett reprising the role. However, when Iain De Caestecker was asked by Digital Spy, he reveals that he would probably turn down the offer and for a good reason.
Iain De Caestecker reveals he would not be back as Fitz if asked, "I think I would say probably no. And not that I didn't have a fantastic time doing it."
De Caestecker explains that he is content with what Fitz and Simmons had throughout their time in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, "I think, after everything that happened to those two characters, they really gave them a happy ending. And I think it would be so sad to mess with that again."

De Caestecker would like to leave Fitz and Simmons with their new life at peace, "It's not fair ... I'm not sure they would survive it this time. So I like the idea that they're living a life of normality outside of the SHIELD."
When asked whether he thinks Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is canon to the MCU, De Caestecker said, "I would say you might have to, because I think the original conception of the show was the fact that Coulson had come from The Avengers, isn't it? I think you would kind of have to say it is canon."
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD remains to be not canon to the MCU while there are a lot of contrary opinions from the fans. The series under ABC ran for 7 seasons which spanned from 2013 to 2020. It is one of the shows outside MCU that has been widely received by fans.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD tackled about the Inhumans, time and space travel, Ghostrider, Life-Model Decoys, Kree relics and inventions, and more.
All seven seasons of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD can be streamed online via Disney Plus.
