It's about time that the strongest Avenger is immortalized in the stars. NASA has just named a new constellation after the Hulk. Not surprisingly, Avengers: Infinity War star Mark Ruffalo has an awesome reaction to the news.
NASA recently named several new constellations, a few of which are awesome references to pop culture. One of the constellations was called Hulk, after the green Avenger. The naming is certainly on point since the constellation is made of gamma rays instead of stars (via CNET).
"Gamma rays are the strongest form of light," NASA explained. "They pack enough punch to convert into matter under the right circumstances, a transformation both [Bruce] Banner and the Hulk would certainly appreciate."
Ruffalo was clearly impressed that a constellation has been named after his Marvel Cinematic Universe character. The Avengers 4 star shared the news on Twitter with a cool caption. Take a look at his tweet below.
We can forgive Ruffalo for the little mistake there (gamma ray, not stars) since the pun is way too awesome.
The Hulk isn't the only one who was immortalized in constellations. Thor's hammer Mjolnir and the Tardis from Doctor Who got constellations as well. Interestingly, NASA also decided to name a big one after Godzilla.
"Godzilla's trademark weapon is its 'heat ray,' a fiery jet," said NASA. "This bears at least a passing resemblance to gamma-ray jets associated with black holes and neutron stars."
Needless to say, it must be fun to work at NASA if you get to name constellations after the coolest things.
The Hulk will return in Avengers 4, which premieres on May 3, 2019.
