Mark Hamill Says He Hasn’t Seen The Original Star Wars In A Long, Long While

Mark Hamill might be a pretty active member of the Star Wars community, but for some reason, it turns out that the Star Wars legend hasn't actually seen the Star Wars: A New Hope for over 20 years now.

The actor who's known for sharing fun stories, behind-the-scene factoids, and troll posts just recently took to Twitter to reveal that he hasn't actually seen the very first Star Wars movie since the Special Edition was released back in 1997.

"I haven't seen it since the Special Edition was released in theaters in 1997 & only because my kids had only watched the home video, had never seen it on the big screen & insisted I take them," Hamill posted as a reply to a fan who wanted to know whether the actor still watched Star Wars.

Check out the tweet down here:

While some fans might find it a kind of heresy to hear that one of Star Wars' biggest stars hasn't really seen A New Hope in over 20 years, others find Hamill's honesty refreshing. Fans posted on Hamill's tweet, saying that they loved that the actor hasn't really seen Star Wars since 1997 and that they understood why Hamill wouldn't be constantly revisiting the film. Some fans even defended the legend, saying that he didn't really need to continuously re-watch Star Wars when Hamill already lived Star Wars.

Now, Hamill is set to live Star Wars one more time as he reprises his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX. We can't wait to see how he returns.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
