French publisher Nacon has revealed Roguebook, an upcoming roguelike deck-builder game developed by the Belgian studio Abrakam, creators of the game Faeria. According to the press release, creator of Wizards of the Coast's popular trading card game Magic: The Gathering, Richard Garifeld, adds his expertise as the game's co-designer.
In a video released by Nacon, CEO and Creative Director at Abrakam Studios, Jean-Michel Vilain talks about Roguebook, a game that lets you build a team of two heroes among four available, each with a skill tree. It features fantasy art inspired by the legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. The video also features Garfield talking about the game's innovative mechanics, and describes the Fat Deck System: instead of removing of "useless" cards in your deck, the game encourages players to gather many cards to acquire bonuses and increase characters' level.
