Jonathan Majors may have lost his chance to be the next big face of Marvel Studios, but it does look like he still wants to keep going with his acting career.

Just in, the first trailer has been dropped for Magazine Dreams, an indie movie starring Majors as a wannabe pro bodybuilder.

The trailer comes from Briarcliff, the same distributor that was behind The Apprentice, the Trump biopic starring Sebastian Stan. Check this out:

The logline reads: “An amateur bodybuilder struggles to find human connection in this exploration of celebrity and violence.”

Besides the plot point of Majors’ character wanting to be a famous bodybuilder, it’s also been confirmed that the character is also caring for his sick grandfather—which adds a lot to the emotional struggle that the film is going for.

Regardless of Majors’ reputation, a lot of critics have always said that he has a very intense screen presence, and it really shines with the trailer. Not only does he get really visceral in the scenes where he’s working out, but he also displays a lot of emotionality in some other interactions in the trailer.

Just by looking at the trailer, it does seem like the character that Majors is playing is also going to be incredibly violent; which doesn’t bode well since Majors was sued for domestic violence—it’s no mystery that the movie waited for two more years before getting a wide release.

Why was Magazine Dreams Delayed?

Magazine Dreams had premiered at Sundance two years ago and was expecting a wide release soon afterward; but the allegations on Major went public and Searchlight, who was originally supposed to distribute the film, ended up dropping the project.

According to Vulture, it was Briarcliff that ended up picking up the film, which may not be surprising granted the fact that their last movie was also a tad controversial—but now the film has some Oscar nominations under its belt, one for Sebastian Stan for playing a young Donald Trump.

No doubt, the delay for Magazine Dreams was dependent on how hot the case against Majors was. When he was declared guilty, it seemed like everyone was just dropping him, most famously Marvel Studios who scrapped his Kang character in favor of Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom.

With Majors reaching a settlement with his ex-girlfriend last November and getting the charges dropped though, it does seem like his reputation is on the mend, and the reception of Magazine Dreams is going to determine whether or not he’s going to have some more projects in the near future.

Marvel Studios may not be asking him back anytime soon, but he definitely still has a lot of roles he can fill with his physicality and screen presence alone. He just has to make sure he doesn't get into some big trouble in the next few years.

Hopefully, that mandatory 52-week-long domestic violence intervention program will set him straight.

Watch out for Magazine Dreams when it comes to cinemas on March 21.
