Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has always been vocal about her hope to join the Star Wars franchise, dressing up in Jedi robes, waving around lightsabers, and admitting that she had once auditioned for a role in the galaxy far, far away.
While there are those who hope to see the Academy Award-winning actress take a lead role in an upcoming Star Wars movie, there are rumors saying that the casting isn't going to happen at all.
The Overlord DVD YouTube channel just recently posted a video providing insider information from Lucasfilm, and according to the channel's host Lord Doom Cock, Disney may be planning to cancel a film involving Larson and Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.
According to the Star Wars leaker, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is reportedly trying to develop a Knights of the Old Republic movie under the helm of Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson. This project is supposedly going to feature Brie Larson in the lead role.
However, while this project is reportedly in the works, Doomcock says that there's an ongoing internal struggle in Lucasfilm. The insider suggests that there is a "civil war" going on in the studio with Kennedy potentially stepping down as the head of Lucasfilm to start her own female-centric production company.
As controversial as this news might be, we have to remind readers to take this report with a giant grain of salt. Lucasfilm has not announced any Knights of the Old Republic project with Johnson and Waititi, and until the studio does, it would be better to take this news at arm's length.
The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
