We still aren't sure if Mara Jade Skywalker would actually show up in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Her character has been a fan favorite ever since she got introduced in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. She is yet to make an appearance despite the talks on Star Wars Legends.

Fans are longing for an appearance for the character, especially when a Redditor came across a decal at one of the bathrooms in Galaxy's Edge. The writing translates to "Mara Jade Lives," which had fans' excitement growing. In the hopes of seeing the character, fans wanted to confirm and assure this with Lucasfilm. However, their response might be disappointing to many.

Matt Martin, a Creative Executive in Lucasfilm Story Group, debunked the Mara Jade speculations. When a fan asked him via Twitter, Martin was unsure about the writings and said that he would be "surprised if it was real." And when he finally confirmed it, he retweeted his previous statement saying, "for those still talking about this: I confirmed that, as suspected, this is fake," You can check out the tweet below:

Speculations on Mara Jade showing up in Star Wars: Episode IX started after Keri Rusell was cast for the film. However, Rusell will be playing a different role named Zorri Bliss, a bounty hunter. And since fans are somewhat desperate to see the smuggler turned Jedi Master, fans may take this casting as a way for Luke's wife to hide her real identity as Mara.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
