LOTR: Merry and Pippin Actors Reunite in Adorable Fashion

Peter Jackson's original Lord of the Rings trilogy remains to be one of the most beloved film franchises ever to have been made, and Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan had the pleasure of starring in those films as loveable hobbits Merry and Pippin. The two had recently posted about a small reunion online, and it references a fun bit from Fellowship of the Ring.

Check it out:

If you're curious about the reference, it's the one where the duo meet Sam and Frodo and end up falling down a cliff as they tried to escape farmer Maggot. They try to collect themselves after the fall when Pippin spots bunch of mushrooms before the ringwraiths got to them.

Here's the scene:

As of now, the latest to work in the Rings franchise is Billy Boyd who provided the song The Last Goodbye for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

Monaghan, on the other hand, is currently shooting Star Wars Episode IX with J.J. Abrams. We don't have any official confirmation yet, but some leaked concept art has revealed that he will be playing an agent of the Resistance. What are the odds that he's actually a spy for the First Order?

Speaking of Star Wars, a fellow hobbit actor, Elijah Wood (Frodo) has also provided his voice for the animated Star Wars Resistance. Sean Astin (Sam) meanwhile had a small, but memorable role in Netflix's hit franchise Stranger Things.

The next thing in store for the Rings franchise is a series from Amazon which boasts to be one of the most expensive TV shows ever made. We haven't been getting any significant updates from the show, but hopefully we get one as the year trudges along.

No release date has been announced for Amazon's Lord of the Rings series.
