Amazon Prime's Lord of the Rings series has finally wrapped production on its first season and the show found the best way to share the news. The last round of actors who are joining the cast has just been revealed.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Lord of the Rings Season 1 has finally wrapped filming after being in production for almost a year. The series also announced four new actors who have been confirmed to join the already large cast.
New cast members include Charles Edwards, Will Fletcher, and Amelie Child-Villiers. Edwards is best known for his role in The Crown where he played Martin Charteris, Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary. They will be joined by newcomer Beau Cassidy.
The Lord of the Rings series cast is led by Game of Thrones alum Robert Aramayo, who portrayed the young Ned Stark in the HBO show. The roles of the 38 cast members have not yet been revealed save for one. It has already been confirmed that Saint Maud actress Morfydd Clark will play the young Galadriel.
For now, the premise of the new series has not been revealed. The only thing we know is that the show will serve as a prequel set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, which is thousands of years before Bilbo Baggins decided to leave the Shire for an adventure.
The Lord of the Rings series has not yet been given an official title nor a release date. However, Season 1 is already expected to consist of eight episodes and could premiere on amazon Prime in early 2021. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
