Lizzo opened up about her "dark depression" for the last few years during her recent comeback concert as part of promoting her new album.

The past couple of years have been tumultuous for the Grammy winner as she was involved in a legal drama after being accused by former backup dancers of sexual harassment, discrimination, and bullying.

Lizzo Reflects on Her 'Dark Depression' During Concert

During her concert last Wednesday night in Los Angeles, Lizzo reflected on the "dark depression" that she had for the previous few years and thanked her fans for the support.

While she didn't comment on the lawsuit, she highlighted how the ongoing support of her fans helped her overcome her issues.

The concert marked her first public performance on stage in nearly two years. The event was held in support of the release of her new album Lizzo in Real Life.

"I was so heartbroken by the world, and so deeply hurt that I didn’t want to live anymore and I was so deeply afraid of people that I didn’t want to be seen," the Grammy winner said.

"Eventually, I got over that fear, I went to a concert, kind of like this... and as I was walking through the crowds and something miraculous happened: someone I didn’t know, looked at me and said ‘Lizzo, I love you.'"

Lizzo continued, "After that I was like ‘Damn, you can’t get this shit on the internet bro… this is the kind of love you only get in real life.'"

Last month, it was reported that a Los Angeles judge denied Lizzo's motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by her former backup dancers.

While some of the claims were tossed out, the entire case itself was allowed to move forward to trial.

In a December 2024 interview, Lizzo candidly weighed in on the lawsuit where she said that she felt "blindsided" and "deeply hurt" by the events that happened.

"I was literally living in my dream, and then the tour ended, and three ex-dancers just completely, like, blindsided me with a lawsuit. I was very deeply hurt because these were three ex-dancers, so they weren’t on the tour," she said.

"They didn’t, like, finish the tour out with us. But even regardless of that, these were people that I gave opportunities to. These were people that — I liked them and appreciated them as dancers, respected them as dancers. So I was like, what?"

Lizzo added, "But then I heard all the other things like sexual harassment, and I was like, they’re trying well, I don’t know what they’re trying to do, but these are the types of things that the media can turn into something that it’s not."
