While K-pop Demon Hunters 2 is still being kept under wraps in the earliest stage of development, the directors have hinted at some details fans can look forward to.
What Did K-pop Demon Hunters' Directors Say About the Sequel?
K-pop Demon Hunters singlehandedly devoured the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart earlier this year, but apart from its catchy songs, its unique storyline hooked fans into wanting more. The original creators were prompted to confirm that a sequel is now on its way, with a twist of their own!
K-pop Demon Hunters directors Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang detailed this one fanfiction theory that had them on the edge of their seats, and may even make it to the sequel's storyboard!
According to Chris, the fanfiction essentially sees Rumi die on Juju, with the finale being a "poetic hallucination" of a 'good ending' for the main character.
"Whoever came up with it [on TikTok], it was very moving," Chris told ScreenRant, "It was like somebody copied and pasted it into a TikTok comment. It's this longa** paragraph."
Kang then added, "There [are] some that I find interesting [too]. I think it's also because there's a lot of reuse of assets in characters and props, and a lot of fans are making these connections, and it's fun to see that."
The musical fantasy story is far from over. If anything, fans hope to see it unfold in a TV show rather than a movie franchise, considering the potential a musical series like KDH could hold.

There's a reason why fans are convinced K-pop Demon Hunters was supposed to have a sequel in the first place.

For one thing, the history behind the creation of the Honmoon and the generational demon hunters is not fully explored yet. The Saja Boys may have been vanquished by Gwi-Ma, but is that really the end for them all?
Not to mention, one of the biggest plot twists in the movie has yet to be addressed: how did Rumi's parents, a hunter and a monster, meet? Was it a forbidden love story or an act of violence?
Answering these things in the sequel would change the trajectory of the story. What initially seemed to be a simple team of demon hunters turned into a more complex worldbuilding in how Gwi-Ma even decides or has that much power to make his own demons.
The writers and artists behind K-pop Demon Hunters have practically pinned down what fans look for in original movies; what's to stop them from expanding it to explore its entirety?
