Fans are criticizing the reported Emmy nomination for LISA's brief, ten-minute appearance in The White Lotus Season 3, arguing she doesn't deserve the recognition for such limited screen time.
LISA Gets Emmy Nomination Despite Brief White Lotus Role
According to a recent report, LISA is being considered for an Emmy nomination in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her minor role as Mook in The White Lotus season 3.
Initial reactions leaned on the negative as fans of the show claimed LISA couldn't act outside her music videos.
However, the Rockstar rapper stunned with her acting debut as she played Mook, a health mentor for guests of White Lotus Thailand. Occasionally, Mook is seen as a performer outside her uniform.
In her short amount of screentime, LISA impressed fans with her performance and admitted on Hindustan Times that she never imagined she would become a part of the show, "I never imagined I'd be a part of The White Lotus, which I'm a fan of. It's also my first time acting, so I'm really grateful."
LISA added that although facing the camera was no challenge for her, she was shocked by how much time it takes to film her scenes, no matter how simple they may be.
"It took so much time to finish one scene - wide, close-up, more close-up, so many angles!" LISA detailed, "But everyone was really supportive and professional on set."
Remember, outside the White Lotus, Mook is an occasional performer. This time, LISA had to learn a Thai dance for the show. Despite being Thai, she had trouble getting a grip on its movements.
"It's not that easy. It's challenging and complicated because Thai dance is on another level. I had to practice a lot," she says before adding, "I feel like I did a great job. It came out really nicely."
Fans Believe Her "Forgettable Role" is Not Emmy Worthy
The BLACKPINK member may have worked hard for that "barely notable" ten-minute role, but fans couldn't see why it was Emmy-worthy to that capacity.
They also believe this would diminish the White Lotus' signature satire take on privilege and wealth, seeing as the rumors behind LISA's possible connections on how she received her role in the first place.
While some believe that LISA may have gotten the nod thanks to her rumored boyfriend, Frédéric Arnault, the son of a French billionaire and CEO of a watch company, TAG Heuer, others came to her defense and claimed that previous minor characters were also in for an Emmy nomination.
This includes White Lotus 'scene-stealer' Sam Rockwell, who will be competing in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category.
Sam Rockwell, who is best known for his roles in Argylle and Bad Guys, is a Golden Globe and Academy Award winner who has actual background experience in the acting industry.
However, as the report showed, LISA's name is only being considered. Nothing has been confirmed yet, whether or not she will win in the category.
