Lil Nas X had a wild night in Los Angeles after being spotted walking down the street in his underwear and getting into an altercation with the police, which ended with his arrest and hospitalization for a possible overdose early Thursday morning.

So, what prompted the award-winning rapper’s unusual behavior? Read on to find out.

What Happened with Lil Nas X?

In the surveillance camera footage obtained by TMZ on Friday, Lil Nas X was seen wandering around the Short Stories Hotel in Los Angeles on Wednesday, despite not being a guest.

At the time, he was fully clothed, completing his cowboy outfit with a hat, button-up shirt, jeans, and boots. The “Old Town Road” hitmaker explored the hotel’s courtyard, stopped to fan himself, and later grabbed what appeared to be a glass of water from the lobby before sitting on a bench.

From there, the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, began removing his shirt.

An eyewitness driving past recorded the artist, who pointed at the camera and mentioned something about going to a party. At one point, he even placed an orange traffic cone on his head.

As many noticed the man’s unusual behavior, they reportedly alerted the police. By the time he was arrested early Thursday morning, Lil Nas X was naked except for his boots and underwear.

The singer-songwriter allegedly charged at officers,. He was then subdued, handcuffed, and taken into custody.

Officers informed paramedics that Lil Nas X might have suffered a possible overdose, and he was later transported to a hospital.

The American Music Awards winner is being held at Van Nuys Jail, where he was booked on a misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer.

How is Lil Nas X?

Before Lil Nas X’s arrest and hospitalization, he revealed that he has been struggling for years. In fact, he told his social media followers that the “last few years” had been “pretty difficult.”

“I’m just now arriving at this place of feeling confident in myself and what I’m doing, and I’m trying to make sure I put intention into my music, my vision, and the creativity of it all,” he said in a video posted on X in February.

However, he insisted he wasn’t being “flaky” about his career. He admitted that he wanted to have “fun this around” after being “overly focused on making sure the songs” on his 2021 album Montero “did well.”

Lil Nas X also acknowledged that while he enjoyed making that album, he wanted his next “era” to be “even more full of joy” and “love.”

“I wanna go out here in this f–king world, and I wanna wave my hands in the sky and move about freely,” he continued. “I need you guys to stick beside me.”
