Liev Schreiber recently opened up about not reprising the role of Sabretooth in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The actor notably played the fan-favorite villain in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While it was his only appearance in the role, his performance was praised by many fans due to his effective presence as Wolverine's brother and foe.

There were rumors that he was set to reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, but it didn't end up happening. Instead, they brought back the version of Sabretooth from the first X-Men with Tyler Mane back in the role.

In a recent interview, Schreiber opened up about not returning as Sabretooth in Deadpool & Wolverine.

He expressed his surprise over how fans wanted him to reprise the role as he never thought that there was interest in his potential return.

"It's amazing. I can't begin to tell you what it feels like when people are thinking about something you did and are so appreciative of it that they want you to do it again," the actor said.

"I was so surprised that we had that many fans, and I was so surprised that people were campaigning for me to be in the new Deadpool movie."

However, Schreiber was happy to sit out after seeing Hugh Jackman's intense workout sessions for the film.

He added, "To be honest, it's a lot of work getting your body up to that point. I know I watched Hugh get himself ready again, and I thought, 'I'm okay to sit by the sidelines.'"

It sounded like Schreiber was really happy about the fan demands on his return as Sabretooth, and it was an unexpected response considering that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not considered to be a beloved film.

While it would have been great to see him return as Sabretooh in Deadpool & Wolverine, it's hard to see how he would have been integrated into the story and it might have made the film more crowded.

Perhaps they might still consider him in an upcoming MCU multiversal movie where they could bring him back and reunite with Jackman for another face-off.
