Nicole Scherzinger, co-star on the newly released reality series, Building the Band, shared insights into Liam Payne's enthusiasm for the show.
Scherzinger recalled how much the former One Direction member had been looking forward to seeing the unique reality series come to fruition.
How was Nicole Scherzinger's Experience Working with Liam Payne on 'Building the Band'?
Building the Band became one of Liam Payne's last projects before his tragic death on October 16, 2024. According to Scherzinger, that project meant more to Liam, beyond taking their own spin at an X Factor and Love is Blind hybrid show.
"I saw the joy it brought to Liam. I felt that this was his happy place," Scherzinger said in a recent interview with Billboard, "To be able to bestow any inspiration, knowledge, wisdom, and experience on these contestants and bands, it brought us all joy. Particularly Liam."
They may have shared the same sentiment, but as the former Pussycat Doll leader herself recalled, "I felt this really inspired him, and this was his happy place. This was his happy place because Liam [had] such a beautiful heart, and he loved to give back. He loved to help."
Given Liam Payne's past experience on reality television with One Direction, and Scherzinger's role in their journey, she understood the importance of Building the Band's debut for him: "He's with us in spirit."
"I know how proud he was of this show. I feel like we are honoring him with this show, and that is such a beautiful thing," she added, "I'm so excited for people to see him in his highest light, giving back."
What was Liam's Role in Building the Band, and How Does the Talent Show Work?

The opening episode, released on July 9, Wednesday, in which Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean shared a heartfelt tribute for Payne: "When we came together to film Building the Band, we never imagined we'd soon be saying goodbye to our friend Liam Payne.
