Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have revealed Rey's (Daisy Ridley) parents as Jakku nobodies, but some fans still cling on to the hope that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might reveal Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) declaration a lie, unveiling the Star Wars sequel trilogy hero's true parentage.
While Lucasfilm has been trying its best to keep The Rise of Skywalker's many secrets under wraps, rumors and leaks continue to circulate online. One of the newest reports showcases a leaked image that may tease a different parentage for Rey. There's a leaked photo of Rey's timeline from a Star Wars guide that's making the rounds on Reddit and it looks like the image may reveal that Rey wasn't originally from Jakku at all.
"A tiny Rey watches helplessly as a starship pulls away, marooning her on the unfamiliar world of Jakku," the caption of the image reads.
This implies that Rey may have actually been born and raised in a different planet, later on, to be left behind by her parents at Jaku. It also insinuates that Kylo Ren was lying about Rey – why would he say they were Jakku nobodies?
Perhaps they were nobodies from another planet. Perhaps Rey was really was sold off for drinking money. But it's also possible that Rey could have been left behind so that her parents could hide her from the Sith or the Jedi.
This new image opens up a world of possibilities, though we can't really trust anything until Episode IX premieres. This image could have been edited after all.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits cinemas on December 20, 2019.
