Global entertainment icon Lea Salonga has made history as she is set to be the first Filipina to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Throughout her career, Salonga received a lot of awards and recognitions such as the Tony Award, Disney Legend honor, and Laurence Olivier Award. Now, she is set to have one of the most prestigious honors in entertainment that will immortalize her legacy.
Is Lea Salonga Receiving the Hollywood Walk of Fame?
Salonga is confirmed to be one of the stars who will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025-2026.
She is one of the two honorees in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category, with stand-up comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias as the other recipient in the batch.
This is also a historical achievement for Salonga since she is the first Filipina to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
The other celebrities with Filipino roots who have been honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star are apl.de.ap (as part of Black Eyed Peas), Bruno Mars, and Rob Schneider.
In her post on Instagram story, Salonga expressed her excitement over the announcement and thanked the Manila International Film Fest for nominating her.
"Just woke up to this amazing news! To the Manila International Film Fest, many thanks for nominating me to the part of the class of 2025–2026!" she wrote.
Peter Roth, chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said in the announcement, "These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them with this well-deserved recognition."
Who Are the Other Honorees in the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025-2026?
Thirty-five (35) celebrities are included in the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025-2026. All of them are receiving their stars within the next 12 months.
In the Motion Pictures category, the honorees are Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Chris Columbus, Marion Cotillard, Keith David, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Franco Nero, Deepika Padukone, Molly Ringwald, Stanley Tucci, Carlo Ramboldi, and Tony Scott.
Greg Daniels, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lucero, Chef Gordon Ramsay, Melody Thomas Scott, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle are the honorees in the Television category.
Air Supply, Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony, Paulinho Da Costa, The Clark Sisters, Miley Cyrus, Josh Groban, Grupo Intocable, Angélique Kidjo, and Lyle Lovett are representing the Recording category honorees.
Shaquille O’Neal is the only celebrity who is being honored in the Sports Entertainment category.
