The iconic Shonen Jump series Kinnikuman is finally coming back soon. After previous announcements about its return, Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc got a release date announcement.
Along with its premiere reveal, the show’s streaming platform partner was also confirmed. Plus, a new visual and more voice cast members were revealed.
This new anime promises to be a must-watch for any and every Kinnikuman fan, especially as it adapts the first arc of the manga’s 2011 return.
Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc Release Date Announced
It’s fair to say that Kinnikuman is one of Shonen Jump’s most iconic works, as it was one of the magazine’s most popular titles in the 80s. It even has over 70 million copies in circulation as of 2021.
The original Kinnikuman ended in 1987, though it has gotten numerous anime adaptations and even a sequel manga with 29 volumes. Perhaps the most well-known is the Toei Animation adaptation that premiered in 1983.
To celebrate the first anime’s 40th anniversary, production began on Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc, an anime that’s now confirmed to be released on July 7 in Japan and July 8 worldwide.
This new anime is being produced by Production I.G, the studio behind shows such as Psycho-Pass and Heavenly Delusion.
Aside from its well-known studio, the new anime also features a notable cast list, which includes VAs like Mamoru Miyano (Rintarou Okabe in Steins;Gate), Sumire Uesaka (Shalltear in Overlord), and Yuki Kaji (Eren in Attack on Titan).

Where to Watch Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc
In Japan, the anime will be broadcast on TV via CBC and TBS, though its July 7 TV premiere will be a recap of the original anime’s story.
The show is also set to premiere worldwide on Netflix on July 8, 2024. This is not too surprising given Netflix’s stable of martial arts anime such as the Baki titles.
What’s not known is if the Netflix release will drop multiple episodes in one day or if it will have a weekly schedule.
Given that it’s not a Netflix-produced show, chances are that this series will get one episode per week.

Where Perfect Origin Sits in the Kinnikuman Timeline
As there are lots of Kinnikuman anime and manga spin-offs, it might be a bit confusing to figure out when this show happens in the timeline.
Thankfully, there’s a simple answer. The show adapts the 2011 manga’s first arc. Thus, it’s also a follow-up to Toei’s original 80s anime and the original manga.
This means fans won’t need to watch the Kinnikuman Legacy anime, as the events there technically happen well after the Perfect Origin Arc.
