Kim Kardashian is gearing up to testify in the upcoming Paris robbery trial that unfolded in 2016. Since the traumatizing day, the controversial American socialite has expressed her fear yet persevered for justice. Now that that day has come, here's what she has to say.
Kim Kardashian Expresses Eagerness to Testify in Her Upcoming Robbery Trial
A source exclusively told PEOPLE that The Kardashians star is en route to Paris to testify.
"Kim's a bit nervous, but she always said that she wanted to testify in person," the source told the news outlet, "This is her choice. She was terrified for her life during the robbery. She wants the people involved convicted."
"I have so many special memories in Paris," Kim said in 2018, two years after the crime was committed. At the time, Kim hadn't returned to Paris in two years.
She added, "I hope that this trip will just be so good that I can start to remember all the magical things about Paris and why Kanye and I fell in love with it."
While Kim and Kanye are no longer together since their divorce in 2022, on Monday, May 12, the SKIMS founder shared an Instagram Story on her profile with a photo of looking out from her private plane and an emoji of the French flag, implying that she's off to Paris, finally.
Ten people are expected to face charges in court, according to multiple sources. The trial for the suspects began Monday, April 28, this year.
The Kardashians' 2016 Paris Robbery Explained
It was October 2016 when armed thieves broke into the Kardashians' room at the Paris hotel. They not only demanded tons of her money but even bound and gagged her in a bathtub.
There were five masked men, according to reports, who stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry from the reality star.
"They put plastic ties around her wrists, but she managed to squeeze her hands out of the wrist ties by wriggling her hands," an anonymous source close to Kim told PEOPLE at the time.
Kim also previously revealed that they stole two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a gold Rolex, and even a $4 million ring her former husband, Kanye West, gifted her, prior to the heist.
The stolen collection was estimated to be worth nearly $9 million, but most of them have never been recovered.
Kim had opened up about the "scariest moment of her life" in a 2017 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, where she recalled being dragged out onto the hallway, and a gunshot could be heard "as clear as day."
"I was like; I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision," she continued, "Am I going to run down the stairs and either be shot in the back? It makes me so upset to think about it."
The 44-year-old figured there was "no way out" of getting shot if she moved or took a stance. She believed they tracked her through social media, where she had snapchatted she was home alone.
