Kim Chul Min made the world happy numerous times before his untimely death.
Longtime fans of the comedian tuned in since Kim Chul Min arrived in the industry on the Korean TV network MBC in 1994. He appeared in several popular shows, including It’s a Gag, which ran from 2006 to 2009.
Aside from making people happy, he kept them entertained by his busking. For three decades, he spent most of his time busking in front of the crowd in Daehagno, Seoul.
However, things changed when Kim Chul Min suddenly felt something weird about his body, eventually learning that he had lung cancer in August 2019.

Kim Chul Min Dead At 54
Kim Chul Min kept his fans updated through his social media accounts. In one post (via Korea Times), he revealed that the cancer cells spread throughout his body that he thought he only had months to live after learning his stage four diagnosis that year.
But he kept his head high that he surprised his fans when he appeared with his guitar and performed again despite his health issue.
In the months afterward, he shared live updates about his treatments and progress. In August, he revealed that he could not do any chemotherapy anymore after going through lumbar replacement surgeries, radiation treatments, and more. At that time, he had to receive painkillers every two hours to ensure he could still survive.

Despite that, he promised that he would keep holding on and stand by everyone else until the end.
On December 10, he left a cryptic post as he told his fans, “I was happy because of you. Thank you. I love you.” A few days later, Korean media outlets revealed he died at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital on December 16 after being re-admitted earlier that day. His wake is currently being held at the medical facility’s funeral room.
Colleagues Paid Tribute To Kim Chul Min
Following the emergence of the news, his friends and colleagues left heartfelt messages as they dealt with the recent loss.
Kim Chul Min’s longtime friend, DJ Hasim, wrote, “Your trip on Earth has ended and you’ve returned to your original place in heaven. I am grateful for the time we had. I love and respect you and may you rest in peace.”
“The man of Daehak-ro, singer Kim Chul Min of AM Plaza’s Dream Challenge who loved to perform on stage! Go in peace, my heart is in pain,” AM Plaza’s producing director, Lee Heon Hee, said.
Kim Chul Min’s family has not released an official statement yet to address his death.
