In an interview with Page Six, Thompson was asked whether there would be some cast shakeups in season 51 of Saturday Night Live.

He teased that there would be changes in the upcoming season, but he declined to share any details.

"Especially this year where it feels like there’s maybe, possibly, a lot of change next year. You want everyone to stay forever, knowing that people may be making decisions this summer... it’s always like you want your kids to stay young," Thompson said.

Thompson also addressed whether he would be returning in season 51, which will mark his 23rd year as a cast member in the long-running series.

"You just never know what the future holds. I don’t want to be in the way of someone else or I don’t want to be the stale old man riding the same thing. That doesn’t really happen that much at SNL but there’s no guarantees, I guess," he replied.

Is Bowen Yang Leaving Saturday Night Live?

A lot of fans noticed that Bowen Yang was emotional during the season 50 finale of Saturday Night Live, which prompted questions on whether he is leaving the series.

"I think you get to a point at SNL where you understand that you're on the downswing of things. I think I was just processing that being one of the last 'last nights' that I would have, and that is a huge thing," he told EW in a red carpet interview.

"Every finale at goodnights something leaves my body because I'm just relieved from all that happened in that season and this was a big one. We went through a lot, so many fun memories. I think that was probably what was registering. I was just like, oh, I need to savor these moments before I don't have them anymore."

When asked if he would return in season 51, Yang simply responded, "No, we're not doing that."
