Kate Middleton Rumored To Be The First Female Colonel After Queen Elizabeth II
Prince William's wife is set to swipe one of Prince Andrew's major roles. Kate Middleton was tipped to be the next Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, making her the first female colonel of the regiment in 80 years.
The last woman to hold the title was Queen Elizabeth II in 1942. Middleton taking over the disgraced royal's major role is being "seriously considered," a senior royal source said, per Express.
The Duke of York served as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards since 2017. He took over the role from his late father, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who held the role since 1975.
When the Queen stripped Prince Andrew of his titles, the role was returned to Her Majesty by default and left vacant. In January, there were rumors that the senior members of the Grenadier Guards were lobbying for Middleton to take on the role that Prince Andrew vacated.
Middleton has been lined up to join Queen Elizabeth II at the Sovereign's Parade, taking place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

After months of speculations that the Duchess of Cambridge would take over the royal patronages, Middleton confirmed it in a post on Instagram.
