The first teaser trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has arrived and it comes along with Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new big bad: Kang the Conqueror. Jonathan Majors debuted as the new big villain in 2021’s Loki season finale, a multiversal tyrant bent on growing his empire. Speculations about Kang conquering the MCU are about to be confirmed once this movie releases, but just from its trailer, it is safe to assume he is the ‘new Thanos.’ Watch Marvel Studios’ trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania below:
“I used to ask myself a lot of questions: ‘Scott, you’re an ex-con, how are you an avenger? That doesn’t make sense.’”
Paul Rudd recites his monologue in the background as he is greeted with glee by every person he comes across his way in the streets. He was even declared ‘Employee of the Century’ at his work in Baskin-Robbins. He was also seen walking down the red carpet with paparazzi taking pictures of him and the Wasp, Evangeline Lilly’s Hope. Of course, with Ant-Man, you can never forget the comedy effect.
“But everywhere I go, people tell me the same thing—”
As Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang was getting his coffee out of the shop, the cafe owner calls out to him:
“Thank you, Spider-Man!”
However, it isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. Scott’s daughter turned on the machine to ‘send a signal to the Quantum realm’ which swooped everybody in the room including Cassie, Scott, Hope and her parents, Janet and Hank. The quantum, as Janet calls it, “It’s a secret universe beneath ours” also unleashes a secret from her that is yet to be revealed.
Inside the quantum, Kang the Conqueror leads with his monologue in the background, appearing to be talking to Scott Lang.
“This place…it isn’t what you think. I can get you home…and give you more time…if you help me. So, what’s it gonna be, Ant-Man?”
It is hard to say what exactly Kang has in store for Ant-Man in exchange for their freedom, but it is highly possible it revolves around the very machine that brought them into the Quantum realm in the first place, perhaps for Kang to find some use in expanding his empire.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to premiere on February 17, 2023.
