Kamala Harris offers her first interview since the 2024 elections by making an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The former VP provided a candid look in the highly anticipated interview, one that shows her post-election reflections and plans for the country.

Why is Kamala Harris No Longer Joining the Next Election?

2024 election loss and memoir aside, the former Vice President, as another upcoming election comes into view, said, "No, I don't want to go back in the system. I think it's broken."

Even as Colbert suggested Kamala might be "waiting for a different office" than the government of California, she made it clear it wasn't about waiting for a different opportunity. As much as she loved her state and the people, she really is going to sit this one out for good reason.

"I always believed that as fragile as our democracy is, our systems would be strong enough to defend our most fundamental principles, and I think right now that they're not as strong as they need to be," Kamala said, further explaining that she didn't want this venture formed through something as "transactional where I'm asking for their vote."

When Colbert clarified if she "didn't want to be part of the fight anymore", Kamala stood her ground.

"It doesn't mean we give up, that's not my point," she continued, "Absolutely not. I'm always gonna be part of the fight."

Considering the fact that part of Colbert's journey included defending Harris from the allegedly manipulative editing of her 60 Minutes interview, there was no reason to exclude what happened after the 2024 elections. And here's the truth: Kamala wrote a memoir about it called 107 Days.

What is Kamala Harris' 107 Days Book About? What to Expect from the Memoir

The memoir, 107 Days, details the roller coaster ride of Kamala's 2024 presidential campaign. It's not just about the good and bad; it's a deeper dive into what unfolded behind the scenes where the cameras couldn't reach.

"What the world saw on the campaign trail was only part of the story," Harris wrote on X and Instagram on Thursday morning, "My new book is a behind-the-scenes look at my experience leading the shortest presidential campaign in modern history."

The announcement came with a short clip of Kamala promoting what the book intends for its readers and how the journey sparked hope inside her, and hopefully, to those who plan to analyze the text.

"I believe there's value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward," Kamala said, "In writing this book, one truth kept coming back to me — sometimes the fight takes a while. But I remain full of hope, and I remain clear-eyed. I will never stop fighting to make our country reflect the very best of its ideals, always on behalf of the people."

To keep you on your toes, 107 Days releases on September 23. Stay tuned!
