What Is Kaiju No. 8 All About?
For years, Japan has struggled with the emergence of terrifying kaiju, grotesque monsters wreaking havoc on its cities.
To protect the civilians, the Defense Force undertakes perilous missions to eliminate these threats.
Post-elimination, the responsibility of disposing of the kaiju corpses falls to the sweepers assigned by the Professional Kaiju Cleaner Corporation, notably the Monster Sweeper Inc.
Among these sweepers is 32-year-old Kafka Hibino. Despite an early ambition to join the Defense Force and fight the kaiju menace, Kafkaās repeated failures led him to settle for the comfort of a steady paycheck.
However, when an ambitious 18-year-old recruit named Leno Ichikawa joins his cleaning team, Kafkaās age-old aspirations are rekindled by the young recruitās zeal for military service.
Meanwhile, a series of unfortunate events lead Kafka to face an unknown airborne kaiju that infiltrates his body, transforming him into a humanoid monster.
Now, he is known as Kaiju No. 8, and Kafka seizes this opportunity to pursue his long-cherished dream with newfound determination.
The Kaiju No. 8 anime is based on the manga by Naoya Matsumoto.
