What Is the Prison Realm?

The Prison Realm is the final remains of Genshin, a Buddhist monk. This enigmatic and forbidden object possesses an unmatched sealing power capable of sealing anything.

The Prison Realm, in its dormant state, resembles a small cube, shrouded in protective talismans.

When invoked with the incantation, “Gate open,” the cube transforms into a grotesque mass of flesh, stretched at its corners, and featuring a big monstrous bleeding eye at its core.

The eye is held open by stitches, fixated on its intended target.

Being a special-grade cursed object, Pseudo-Geto uses the Prison Realm in the Shibuya Incident arc to seal Satoru Gojo.

Realizing that the most formidable jujutsu sorcerer cannot be defeated outright, Geto persuades Mahito and his team of special-grade cursed spirits to join forces with him to confine Gojo within the Prison Realm.

For the Prison Realm to successfully seal the target, they must remain within a four-meter radius until the cursed object takes effect.

Pseudo-Geto made an elaborate plan to ensure Gojo stayed within this range for a full minute inside his mind.

After this condition is fulfilled, the cursed flesh must cover the target’s body, immobilizing them and blocking access to their cursed energy.

The ritual of sealing concludes by saying, “Gate close,” transforming the Prison Realm into a small cube, permanently trapping the target inside.

It is important to note that only one person can be placed inside the Prison Realm at a time.

The Prison Realm cannot get active until the entity trapped inside ends their own life.

Once the Prison Realm traps a powerful sorcerer like Gojo, it becomes immovable and gains additional eyes on its surface.

Inside the Prison Realm, time stands still, and the sealed entity is forced to live with skeletons in a foreboding atmosphere.

Yes, there is a way to unseal the Prison Realm through what is called a "back gate".

The cursed object that looks like a cube is the "front gate" of the Prison Realm. But there is a back gate that plays an instrumental role in releasing what’s sealed inside.

Master Tengen tried to conceal the Prison Realm by sealing the back gate, but Kenjaku found the location of the front gate.

Once something’s sealed inside the Prison Realm, only the front gate’s bearer can open it, while the back gate’s bearer must use a cursed technique that cancels other cursed techniques to break it open.

The techniques that can be used to unseal the Prison Realm are the Black Rope and the Inverted Spear of Heaven.
