After years of legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp is making his Hollywood comeback in the upcoming film Day Drinker. Now, we finally have our first official look at the project.
The controversial Oscar-nominated actor has been slowly making his attempt to return to Hollywood by starring in a couple of films that were produced outside the United States in the last few years.
First Look at Johnny Depp in Day Drinker
Lionsgate recently released the first-look photo of Depp's Hollywood comeback in Day Drinker as it begins production.
Just like in some of his past iconic roles, Depp physically transformed into the character that he is playing in the film.
The project has been in the works for the last few years, with Sydney Sweeney also rumored to co-star with the actor, but it was eventually debunked.
This also marks Depp's first major project under a Hollywood studio since starring in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The first-look photo has received enthusiastic responses from loyal fans of Depp as they are excited to see him returning to the Hollywood scene again, and it would be interesting to see whether it is indeed a sign that he is being welcomed back.
What is Day Drinker About?
Day Drinker is described as an action thriller film. It is directed by Marc Webb, who also helmed the recent Disney live-action remake of Snow White.
Aside from Depp, the cast also includes Penélope Cruz, Madelyn Cline, Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto, and Anika Boyle. Production is taking place in Spain.
The film tells the story of a private yacht bartender (Cline) who encounters a mysterious, onboard guest (Depp). They soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Cruz) and connected in ways no one saw coming.
"I’m excited to be starting production with Johnny, Madelyn, Penelope, and this incredible cast. We’re in a beautiful location with a fantastic crew and a thrilling, ferocious story to tell. This is gonna be fun," Webb said in a statement.
