John Stamos has finally set the record straight on the long-standing dating rumors involving his Full House co-star Lori Loughlin.
The two played couple Jesse Katsopolis and Rebecca “Aunt Becky” on the iconic ABC sitcom. Now that Loughlin has separated from her husband of nearly 28 years, Mossimo Giannulli, speculation about a possible romantic relationship between her and Stamos has resurfaced.
Did John Stamos and Lori Loughlin Ever Date?

Since their characters ended up together in the series, many couldn’t help but wonder if their on-screen chemistry ever translated into real life.
“A lot of people were like, ‘Oh, you guys were romantic,’” Stamos acknowledged during Monday’s episode of the Good Guys podcast. “I happened to say she was the one who got away in something, and I think it was before I met Caitlin, and it was an interesting thing.”
The actor was referring to his wife, Caitlin McHugh, whom he married in 2018.
“There was a very small window where the two of us were single at the same time,” he continued, speaking to hosts Josh Peck and Ben Soffer.
Before marrying McHugh, Stamos was previously wed to Rebecca Romijn from 1998 to 2005.
“I don’t mean to belittle or pare it down to Grease, but Lori was Sandy—you know, before the leather and all that stuff, before that song—and Rebecca Romijn was Sandy in the leather, saying, ‘Tell me about it, stud,’” he said. “There was a moment where I had a choice, I think. And I was more into, you know, the rebellious.”
While the 62-year-old star admitted that Loughlin “was sweet” and that he “loved working with her,” he found her “too nice” for him.
“She was America’s sweetheart,” Stamos added. “It was always platonic.”
However, he revealed there was one time they made out on a ride at Disneyland—or at least, that’s how he remembered it.
“I think she said it didn’t happen, so I don’t know if it was something I made up in my mind—some sort of fantasy,” he explained.
But despite that possibly intimate moment, Stamos made it clear he never considered leaving his wife for Loughlin.
“No f****** way,” he said firmly.
What Did John Stamos Say About Lori Loughlin’s Husband?

With a 40-year friendship behind them, Stamos couldn’t help but speak about Loughlin’s husband. Loughlin and Giannulli were both involved in the infamous college admissions scandal, known as Operation Varsity Blues, in 2019.
At the time, they were convicted of wire and mail fraud for paying half a million dollars to get their daughters into the University of Southern California as rowing recruits—despite neither of them participating in the sport.
The former couple both pleaded guilty to the charges and served prison time: three months in federal prison for Loughlin and five months for Giannulli.
Recently, their separation was confirmed. The pair are reportedly living apart, though legal proceedings have yet to begin.
As someone who knows Loughlin as a “saint,” Stamos believes “she’s just devastated” by the breakup and the public fallout from the scandal.
“I will never talk to him again. He’s a terrible narcissist,” Stamos said about Giannulli. “I pray that he gets a hold of whatever hole he’s trying to fill, however he’s trying to fill it. I pray that he realizes that what he had was everything anyone could ever hope for—and that he gets some help. I think this guy needs help.”
