John Boyega has three major films on the way. He also addressed the rumors about him joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his recent interview.
John Boyega Denies Joining Marvel, Prefers Indie Films
John Boyega has a lot of things on his plate. He has three movies and an innovative production company. When asked about the rumors about him joining Marvel, the Star Wars actor shut down the speculations.
"That’s not in the vision for me now," he told Men's Health Magazine. "I want to do nuanced things. . . . I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top Iron Man in that universe."
Although he is not into the MCU, it seems that Boyega is a real-life fan of Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man, a.k.a Tony Stark, in the Marvel universe, because he mentioned the actor during the interview.
The magazine mentioned that Boyega found guidance in the Avengers actor.
"I am very interested in people who go to dark spaces and are able to flip that," Boyega said.
Downey Jr. had his ups and down in Hollywood. He was one of the actors who made an incredible comeback after beating his addiction problems.
"They’re not going to know what to do with you when you come into the industry; they’re going to be like, ‘Oh, let’s just make him well-spoken and nice.’ That’s kind of the filter. You’re going to go through some turbulence. You’re going to try to find who you are within this. It might be rocky, but you’ll come out the end with a solid identity. That’s literally what happened to me," Downey Jr. told Boyega, the younger actor shared.

What's Next For John Boyega?
Femi Oguns, John Boyega's agent, told the outlet that his goal has been "to disrupt the industry and also to make history."
"For John, it was never about trying to fit into the box. He wants to be the outline of the box," Oguns added. "For John, it’s all about accountability. He doesn’t want to be defined by any stereotypical roles."
Boyega will appear on They Cloned Tyron alongside Jamie Fox, due later this year. He also stars in the historical thriller The Woman King with Viola Davis.
His third major movie project is Breaking, which is coming out later his month. The film is based on a true story of a Marine veteran whose PTSD leads him to plot a botched bank robbery.
Breaking hits theaters on Aug. 26.
