It remains to be seen why the Bronx-bred artist included a kissing scene up on stage, but fans formed their own verdict that it had something to do with who had the upper hand amid her marriage shake-up.
Considering the fresh divorce she and ex-husband Ben Affleck finalized early at the start of 2025, fans were led to believe that the AMA stunt may have been a "desperate" and "disgusting" ploy to make him jealous.

What Has JLO Said About Her Ongoing Divorce with Ben Affleck?
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got married in July 2022. However, two years after tying the knot, the long-anticipated pair separated in private on April 26, 2024.
JLO officially filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, and finalized the documents on January 6, 2025.
According to the former Batman star, "there's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue" behind their breakup." He revealed no intimate details behind their split, but noted, "It's just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do."
On the other hand, Jennifer Lopez has been quite vocal about the approach and steady progress in dealing with it.

"It seemed like a perfect summer to celebrate being free and being happy," JLO told People ahead of her AMAs performance, "I'm ready to get out there and make people sing and dance and have a good time. That's always my goal."
