Who is Jang Da-Ah in Pyramid Game? With the thriller K-drama series now available to stream on Paramount+, fans wonder why she looks familiar.
Pyramid Game serves as the rookie actress' on-screen debut where her character is behind the titular brutal game at Baekyeon Girls' High School. However, there's more to Jang Da-Ah than meets the eye.
Actress Jang Da-Ah's Dream Comes True in Divisive Pyramid Game Role
Jang Da-Ah plays the role of Baek Ha-Rin, the main antagonist in the Pyramid Game series.
Baek Ha-Rin is recognized as the class "princess" of Baekyeon Girls' High School, but she also happens to be the girl who orchestrated the brutal game against those who get in her way.
In this case, it's people like Sung Su-Ji (played by Kim Ji-Yeon), who believe Ha-Rin should be punished for her crime of turning her classmates against each other by exposing the truth behind Ha-Rin's nice-girl act.
"I wanted to reach the standards I set for myself," Da-Ah added, noting how hard she had been studying and preparing herself for Baek Ha-Rin's part.
"I wanted to portray a two-sided character like Baek. At the same time, this character has both sweet and villainous traits. So I thought I could handle it well if I took the challenge," the actress adds.
She also said that Ha-Rin, in a way, felt similar to her: "She's firm and organized. How she is not easily influenced and has all the plans in place in her mind is somewhat in sync with me."
Jang Da-Ah Makes Own Name Apart from Being IVE Member's Sister
Jang Da-Ah also happens to be the older sister of Jang Won-Young, a member of the Starship Kpop group, IVE.
Before Da-Ah's acting debut, she had learned to accept that fans' first and foremost knowledge of her is because of her relationship with her idol sister.
"[Me being Won-Young's sister] was disclosed when I was first gaining attention. Regardless of my intention, I felt it was something that I could not avoid and accepted it," Da-Ah shared previously.
Da-Ah went on to add that because she is strong and determined to pursue her dream career, she "didn't pay much attention to any accompanying external factors" of the business.
The actress also mentioned that she couldn't deny the happiness she felt when her younger sister sent a screenshot that she was watching her acting debut to support her.
