Jamie Spears, Britney Spears' father, has filed to dissolve his conservatorship over his daughter, putting an end to years of litigation once and for all.
The older Spears, who has been in charge of Spears' estate and personal assets for years, filed court documents on Monday to stop the arrangement. According to the documents, he is asking a judge to sign off on the motion by Tuesday.

The filing puts an end to the approaching final agreement, from which he earlier stated that he would stand down once a viable strategy was in place.
Jamie’s attorneys said that he “unconditionally loves and supports his daughter.” In the court memorandum, Jamie said he was willing to do everything to protect and care for her daughter even if he no longer serves as her conservator.
Jamie Does Not Want Anything In Return
Reports had previously surfaced that Jamie was demanding that his daughter pay him $2 million so he would give up his conservatorship. A chunk of the money will reportedly go to his attorneys and Tri-Star, Spears’ former business manager. Jamie's attorneys, however, claim that this was not the case and that he is prepared to walk away from the case without additional compensation.
In his filing, Jamie’s lawyers said that he no longer has any reason to continue his conservatorship, and he has no interest in continuing as Spears’ conservator. His lawyers added that Jamie no longer has any intention of becoming his daughter's conservator.

“Jamie already petitioned this Court to terminate the Conservatorship and has offered to stipulate to its immediate termination without reservation or exception," the filing said.
Jamie merely wants a seamless and transparent shift off the helm, according to the papers, and will conceal nothing from anybody interested in learning more about the arrangement. Spears previously demanded that her father be called to testify over allegations that he mishandled her funds.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny suspended Jamie’s conservatorship, which allowed him to have a solid grip on his daughter's life in late September. Before then, Jamie has had control of the pop star's funds since 2008. He was granted the conservatorship after Spears showed erratic behavior, which included a public spectacle where she shaved her head in front of the media.

Spears turned to social media to inform her followers that she was happy and couldn't wait to reintroduce herself to the world after hearing of Jamie's decision to dissolve the conservatorship. She also called out her mom and Lou Taylor, partially blaming them for "ruining her life." As of this writing, the original post has been deleted.

Sources familiar with the matter said Jamie has agreed to end the conservatorship to avoid testifying under oath in a deposition, which may include questions concerning his alleged misuse of his daughter’s funds and his dealings with TriStar.
Federal prosecutors previously demanded that Jamie hand over all communications regarding his transactions with TriStar and other entities using the Conservatorship Estate of Britney Jean Spears.
