Academy winner Jamie Lee Curtis isn’t going to let Facebook and Meta use her likeness in any AI commercials without her permission.

Despite her efforts to reach out to the proper authorities, the 66-year-old actress decided to take matters into her own hands and called them out, specifically CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Jamie Lee Curtis Calls Out Facebook Founder For Unauthorized AI Ad

The Freaky Friday star garnered attention for a Facebook AI commercial of her circulating online by taking it to Instagram on Monday, May 12, where she asked Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to remove the video.

In the letter, Curtis noted she had "gone through every proper channel" to ask him and his team to take down the "totally AI fake commercial for some bulls*** that I didn't authorize, agree to, or endorse."

To make matters worse, she had shared screenshots of the CEO being unreachable on his official Instagram account, and the footage from her interview with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle about the Los Angeles wildfires that was used in the said commercial.

"If I have a brand, besides being an actor and author and advocate, it is that I am known for telling the truth and saying it like it is and for having integrity and this (MIS)use of my images with new fake words put in my mouth, diminishes my opportunities to actually speak my truth," Curtis wrote.

She added that she had long deleted her Twitter account, which is why she resorted to reaching the CEO on Instagram. Well, guess what happens when something unfair gains traction online?

The Power of Social Media: Meta Shuts Down AI Ad Following Curtis' Post

A couple of hours later, since Curtis made the call, the content was removed, thanks to her public request, which the people wouldn't have found out until the Everything Everywhere All At Once actress updated it in the comments.

"IT WORKED! YAY INTERNET! SHAME HAS ITS VALUE! THANKS TO ALL WHO CHIMED IN AND HELPED RECTIFY!" Curtis rejoiced.

Despite the successful ending, though, Curtis couldn't help but reflect on the dangers of AI, and how even her lawyers and social media teams couldn't "take it down" themselves.

"HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Just think about the threat of this, forgetting my 'career' but politicians or public servants saying things that they aren't saying," she added, "It's like the wild wild West. Very distressing and disappointing that with all the TECH and all the billions and trillions that are being made that there are no safeguards."

Curtis may have been the latest celebrity to criticize artificial intelligence, but there's no certainty she'll be the last.

A couple of Hollywood stars, including Tom Hanks and Scarlett Johansson, urged their fans and US legislators to place AI functions to limit, which means no unauthorized AI-generated videos and clips, resonating with Curtis' point of misusing AI for the public.
