If you're one of the millions of people who decided to watch Aquaman this weekend, you're probably wondering about that one scene where the most unexpected song was played. Luckily, director James Wan has offered an explanation on why he chose the most ridiculous tune in existence for that particular sequence.

In Aquaman, Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) head off to the Sahara Desert in search for the Trident of Atlan. Their arrival in North Africa is kicked off by the two emerging from the water to the tune of Pitbull's new song Ocean to Ocean. Although it somehow makes sense because it's partly a cover of Toto's Africa, it's still a surprising addition to the scene. However, Wan has revealed it was meant to be that way.
Wan spoke to Business Insider about the sequence, admitting that he already had plans to put a completely unexpected surprise in the scene.
Interestingly, the Furious 7 director admitted that he initially didn't know what song to put in the scene. However, Pitbull had already been confirmed to work on a new tune for the movie and it simply clicked.
Ocean to Ocean isn't the only surprising track in Aquaman. At one point, Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is also featured fixing his gear while listening to Depeche Mode's It's No Good.
Aquaman is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
