James Gunn has announced that the highly-anticipated DCU reboot of Superman finally wrapped filming.

For the past few months, cameras have been rolling for the first DCU movie that will see the debut of David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel and establish a new franchise under the management of DC Studios.

We've also been seeing set photos from the outdoor filming of the movie in downtown Cleveland that gave us our preview of Corenswet's Man of Steel in action and the other characters that are joining his adventure.

James Gunn Celebrates the End of Filming Superman

In his recent social media post, Gunn confirmed the filming of Superman has finally wrapped.

He thanked the cast and crew who worked on the project and addressed how it's been an honor for him to bring the new iteration of the Man of Steel to life.

He also shared a photo from the set during their first week of filming in Svalbard, Norway to celebrate the occasion.

"And that’s a wrap. God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much," Gunn wrote in his caption.

"And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor."

The director continued, "The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set - and for that I am forever grateful."

This is an exciting update for many DC fans who have been looking forward to the film since it's now officially in the can and all we can do now is wait for a year to see the final results on the big screen.

We might be able to hear more details and scoops about the film in the coming months, and hopefully, the team will have a fruitful post-production and the hype for the DCU reboot will be worth it.

Superman is slated for release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
