The year is coming to a close and so is the DC Extended Universe. With the "SnyderVerse" officially in the rearview after a lackluster run, James Gunn and Peter Safran are ready to usher in a brand new era for the DC film and television franchise in hopes of winning back the comic book fandom.

But despite announcing the DCU's Chapter 1 slate earlier this year, nothing much about the franchise's plans has been announced yet. Naturally, this is resulting in fans growing quite impatient.

As it stands, we're still being kept in the dark regarding DCU updates and it looks like things will stay that way in the coming months.

In a recent post on Threads (via ComicBook), the Superman: Legacy director hilariously responded to a fan "starving" for DCU news and updates. Instead of giving away spoilers or casting confirmations, Gunn urged the fan to "Celebrate the holidays".

While we understand the fandom's collective frustration, all we can do for now is be extra patient. We also have to keep in mind that the DCU is no longer operating the way its predecessor did.

And quite frankly, it's great that Gunn and Safran are taking their time before making big announcements because jumping the gun is one of the problems the DCEU encountered and it eventually led to several project cancelations. It's a marathon after all and not a sprint.

Meanwhile, the final DCEU film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is still showing in cinemas.
